Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actress since late 1980s. Her work has been recognized for film and television from the mid-80s onwards, she's been awarded numerous awards such as two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was born in New York New York and raised by an aunt living in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett and her sister, at the age of five old, made the move out of New York and into St. Petersburg to live with the mother of their divorced father. Bassett was in high school when she was able to see James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck play Of Mice and Men and knew that her dream of being an actor had been realized. Following her graduation at Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980 with an undergraduate degree with a major in African American Studies, she went on to earn an MA (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale she came across Courtney B. Vance a co-actor and they got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Bachelor of Arts (Afro-American studies) in 1980. A Master of Fine Arts (Drama) from Yale School of Drama School. Angela Bassett currently works in one of her leading roles, Ramonda, in the action-adventure movie i.e. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022).
