Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actress from America. Known for her work in TV and film from the mid-80s onwards, she has received various accolades like two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was born to her aunt in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her birthplace was and grew up within New York New York. Bassett was able to move with her younger sister to St. Petersburg Florida at five years old so that they could be near their mom and father, who had separated from their dad. Bassett was a fan of James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play as she was still at high school and decided that she was an actor and wanted to do. Yale University New Haven Connecticut was where she earned her bachelor's degree in African American and master's degrees (1983). At Yale she met Courtney B. Vance a fellow actor and the two married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. degree in African-American studies, 1980.
