Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actor from the United States. Her work has been recognized for television and in film from the mid-80s onwards, she's won numerous awards like two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was born to her aunt in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Born and grew up at home in New York New York. Bassett moved with her twin sister in St. Petersburg Florida at five years old in order to be closer to their mother, who was separated from their dad. When she was in high school Bassett was a spectator of John Steinbeck's play Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she would like to be an actor. In 1980, Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with the degree of African American studies. She also received a degree from The Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance was also an actor at Yale. They married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. degree in African-American studies in 1980, Master in Fine Arts degree from the Yale School of Drama School: Jordan Park Elementary School Disston Middle School (seventh grade) Azalea Middle School (eighth and ninth grades) Boca Ciega High School.
