Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. The name she is most commonly used for her professional work is Aurora and sometimes stylized with the letters in uppercase in the form of AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, released in May 2015 by Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. Half the World Away from the band Oasis was made for an ad campaign for John Lewis, and Nature Boy is a Nat King Cole cover. The singer gained further attention from a post by Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her track Runaway. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' first musical memory involves finding a small piano hidden in the basement and being fascinated at the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to learn music as a passion rather as a career. She started writing her own songs. As well as Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. The singer decided to perform the songs she wrote publicly after her mom suggested they could help people not to gain fame with her work but to make those around them see their own importance and how they can affect the world. She was suggested by her mother to perform her songs publicly to help people realize their own importance and how they can affect the world. She didn't tell her family about her musical journey until she was 14. Aurora has never imagined being famous. As she says, she loves writing music.
